Plain Local Baseball and Softball Association, Inc. is dedicated to
providing the boys and girls of Plain Township and surrounding areas
with a healthy environment in which they can experience the fun and
excitement of playing quality organized baseball and softball. Our
emphasis is on developing baseball and softball skills and good
sportsmanship. Our goal is that every player is provided with the
opportunity to develop to the best of his or her ability and to learn to
maintain a balanced sportsmanlike attitude.
League
programs
Tee-Ball
is an instructional league for boys and girls who will have their 5th
birthday before April 1st and will not turn 7 before August 1st. There
is no pitching and players hit a safety ball from a rubber T stand.
Informal environment with the intent to give each player experience in
various positions during the season. Games are three innings and last
approximately 2 hours. The season will conclude with a competitive
tournament.
Coach Pitch
is for children who will be at least 7 before August 1st and will not
turn 8 before August 1st. Teams play against teams from local area
leagues. A baseball is used, score is kept, umpires are present, and
tournament games are played. Games are twice a week, seven innings or
approximately 2 hours.
Girls
Softball
is for girls who will be ages 7 through 18 before January 1st (teams are
by age). Defense consists of 9 or 10 players in the field based upon
age. Teams play against teams from local area leagues. A softball is
used, score is kept, umpires are present, and tournament games are
played. Games are twice a week, seven innings or approximately 2 hours.
Ages 7 and 8 play coach pitch, 9 and 10 play fast pitching, and ages
11-18 will play ASA Girls Softball
Pitching Machine
is for players who
will be at least 8 before August 1st and will not turn 9 before August
1st. To build the batter's confidence, the pitching in this league is
performed by a pitching machine operated by a coach. There are 10
players on the field for defense, but all players are in the batting
line up. Teams play against teams from local area leagues. A baseball is
used, score is kept, umpires are present, and tournament games are
played. Games are twice a week, seven innings or approximately 2 hours.
Instructional Pitching
is for players who
will be at least 9 before August 1st and will not turn 10 before August
1st. In this league, the players pitch and there are 10 players on the
field for defense with all players in the batting line up. Teams play
against teams from local area leagues. A baseball is used, score is
kept, umpires are present, and tournament games are played. Games are
twice a week, seven innings or approximately 2 hours.
Hot
Stove League
is for age levels 10
to 14. The season begins the first week of May and ends with tournaments
in late July. The player's age on August 1st determines the level that
is played. There are two leagues for players 15 and up (15-16 year olds
and 15-18 year olds). Teams play official Hot Stove rules. The players
pitch and there are 9 players on the field.
Hitting League
is available to all registered Plain Local Baseball and Softball players
ages 7 and up. This league starts in January and runs once a week for 7
weeks. The players are divided into teams of 3 or 4 and face other teams
in the same age division. Teams square off in batting cages and points
are awarded based on each hit. A tournament is held in the 7th week.
This is a great opportunity for players to get some pre-season batting
work in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
